Fairchild Lecture to focus on Wisconsin Democratic Party

March 31, 2002

The Thomas E. Fairchild Lecture Friday, April 19, addresses “Revitalization of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin in the Mid-20th Century.”

Presenters are former Gov. Patrick Lucey and Ellen Proxmire, with academic commentary by Alexander Shashko and concluding remarks by U.S. Court of Appeals Judge Thomas E. Fairchild. The lecture, 4 p.m. in Godfrey & Kahn Hall, 2260 Law School, will be followed by a reception in the Wisconsin Law Alumni Association Student Atrium.

The Fairchild Lectureship was established at the Law School in 1988, as a tribute to Fairchild, a 1937 Law School graduate, former justice of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, later chief judge and now senior circuit judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.

Initiated by Fairchild’s clerks, the lectureship brings a distinguished member of the legal profession — from the bench, bar or academia — to speak on a topic of importance to the profession.

To attend, register by Friday, April 5: 262-3833, LFThomp1@facstaff.wisc.edu.
