Faculty stage dance concert

April 18, 2002

If you sit alone in a corner singing “Mary had a Little Lamb” long enough, it starts to sound pretty creepy. That’s what students at the Dance Program discovered when they were assigned to explore their feelings while repeating this seemingly innocent little ditty over and over again.

Visiting artist Barbara Grubel used this and other assignments to create a context for her choreography being showcased along with that of faculty artists in the Spring Faculty Concert April 25-27, 8 p.m. in the Margaret H’Doubler Performance Space, Lathrop Hall.

Grubel, a Wisconsin native currently based in New York City, has been working with dance students all semester as Henry-Bascom visiting professor. Her repertory piece, “A Lamb’s Tale,’ features seven dancers in a complex visual and movement study with a Hitchcockian twist. The concert also features works choreographed by faculty artists.

Tickets: $8 and $12 (except Thursday, April 25, when student tickets are $5), Wisconsin Union Theater Box Office, 262-2201, or at the door.

Information: 262-1691.
