Business professor Nair named to WEDC board
Gov. Scott Walker has appointed R.D. Nair, professor of accounting and information systems at the Wisconsin School of Business at UW–Madison, to the board of directors of the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC), effective July 1. At the board meeting held at the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point, Nair was also named chair of the Audit Committee, of which he had been a member since 2014.
Nair is a CPA and has been on the faculty of the business school since 1978. He teaches primarily at the graduate level in the Wisconsin Executive MBA Program and the nationally top-ranked master of accountancy program, for which he serves as faculty director. From 1998 to 2004, Nair was the executive director of the Wisconsin School of Business’s Center for International Business Education and Research, where he was responsible for obtaining $2.5 million in federal funding. He also has served as chair of the Department of Accounting and Information Systems, senior associate dean, and interim dean at the business school.
“I’m grateful to Gov. Walker for the appointment,” says Nair. “I look forward to the opportunity to serve on the WEDC board and to help the agency fulfill its mission of creating opportunities for Wisconsin businesses and communities.”
