BioStar building approved

The State Building Commission has approved the Biotechnology Center addition project at an estimated cost of $27 million, with $9 million paid through gifts and grants.

This is the first building in the four-building, 10-year BioStar construction program.

In other Building Commission action, the Committee approved the following projects of interest to UW–Madison:

  • Chemistry addition and renovation budget increase by $2.4 million.
  • Chamberlain Hall renovation design report and authority to construct at a revised estimated budget of $20.95 million.
  • Medical Science Center Cardiology Lab remodeling at an estimated budget of $633,500 (all gift funds from Medical School).
  • Enzyme Institute Building ventilation and exhaust improvements at an estimated budget of $500,000 (a UW System all-agency request)
  • Russell Lab Building ventilation and exhaust improvements at an estimated budget of $350,000 (UW System all agency request)
