Badger Insider Magazine features Badger comic artist

July 8, 2008 By Kate Dixon

Mike Baron found his writing talent as a student at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, and more than 25 years later, his alma mater still inspires stories for his original comic.

As described in the Summer 2008 edition of Badger Insider Magazine, themes from the UW–Madison campus and Wisconsin culture continue to influence “Badger,” one of the successful comic series that Baron creates from his home base in Colorado. Baron graduated from UW–Madison in 1971.

Badger Insider is an exclusive publication for members of the Wisconsin Alumni Association (WAA). The Summer 2008 issue of Badger Insider Magazine also includes:

  • All Gardens Great and Small: Learn about the people and plans behind UW’s Allen Centennial Gardens and other areas in bloom;
  • The Sweet Spot: Alumni remember their favorite UW places for rest and relaxation;
  • Badgering: Meet David Tucker, owner of London Walks, the world’s oldest urban walking tour company. Tucker earned his UW bachelor’s degree in 1969, followed by a master’s degree in 1972.

WAA members can also preview the 2008 Homecoming theme with special additions to “Flat Bucky’s Wardrobe,” as well as new photos from the pocket-size mascot’s worldwide travels.

Each issue of Badger Insider features articles about UW history, points of campus pride and the Badger experience, as written and photographed by UW alumni themselves. The magazine also highlights the lives and experiences of UW–Madison alumni and WAA members around the world. Badger Insider is delivered to WAA members four times per year.

The only way to receive Badger Insider, Flat Bucky and other exclusive benefits is to be a member of the Wisconsin Alumni Association. All alumni and friends are welcome.
