Badger fans to depart for Sun Bowl

December 26, 2000

Nearly 200 fans will depart Dane County Regional Airport Wednesday, Dec. 27, to travel to El Paso for the Wisconsin Badgers-UCLA Bruins matchup in the Sun Bowl.

Fans will check into Dane County Regional Airport beginning at 6 a.m. at the Northwest ticket counter. The flight is scheduled to depart about 8 a.m., and by 10 a.m., the group will be in El Paso, ready to enjoy some fun-in-the-sun as part of the Official UW Sun Bowl Tour.

Highlights of the trip include a Wisconsin Alumni Association Welcome Buffet in the historic Camino Real hotel, the official UW tour headquarters; a luncheon with the starting players on each of the Sun Bowl teams; and a tour of Cattleman’s Ranch Steakhouse, featuring the “Best Steak in El Paso.”

Game day, Dec. 29, features a 10 a.m. Badger Huddle. WAA will host more than 500 Badger fans at a deluxe buffet lunch featuring southwestern chili and, of course, Wisconsin brats. Bucky Badger, cheerleaders, the UW Marching Band and an authentic mariachi band will entertain university alumni and friends. Kickoff is scheduled at 12:15 p.m. at Sun Bowl Stadium.

Travelers will return to Madison Saturday, Dec. 30, at 7 p.m.

The Wisconsin Alumni Association has served UW–Madison and its graduates since 1861. WAA provides an array of services, programs, and benefits, including On Wisconsin, a quarterly alumni magazine; an international travel program; a career database program; and an extensive student relations program.
