Artists may apply to install art at Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery

October 7, 2009

Artists on campus and across the Midwest are invited to submit an application for the commission of art to be installed in the Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery.

One artist will be chosen to create four works of art, each one to be displayed as part of four water features in the institutes’ Town Center. The pieces will be on display for three to five years, when new works will be commissioned.

The selection committee is interested in artwork that reflects the philosophy and goals of the Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery. Applicants may wish to address the concept of discovery as a metaphor, commonalities between the creative and scientific process, and involving scientists in idea generation or the creation process.

Applications are due by Sunday, Nov. 1. Proposal and application details are available at http://discovery.wisc.edu.
