Badger fans at Dane County airport

At Dane County Airport

Next

Dec. 28, 1998 - Westward ho! Crawled out of bed today in the 3:30 a.m. blackness of Madison to catch a charter plane to sunny California for the oldest, coolest bowl of all: the Rose Bowl, where Wisconsin plays UCLA on New Year's Day. The Dane County Airport was swimming in Badger fans wearing so much red it almost hurt your eyes to see it at such a red-eye time of the morning. People looked happy in a subdued, 5 a.m. kind of way. When asked how they felt about their upcoming trip, their answers ranged from an energized "Terrific!" to a stupefied, sleep-deprived "Huh?"
