Depression Study Needs Subjects
The UW Psychiatry Clinical Trials Unit is recruiting subjects for a confidential medication research study for people experiencing depression. The evaluations, labs and study medication are provided at no cost. Participants get paid $20 for each completed visit and the study may last up to three years. Symptoms include not enjoying life, being tired or easily fatigued, not enjoying things like one used to, having trouble sleeping, feeling sad or down a lot, noticeable changes in appetite, difficulty concentrating or making decisions, feeling guilty or down on oneself. For information about this medication study, contact Jay Fruehling, 263-6171, or see: http://www.psychiatry.wisc.edu/research/clinicaltrials.htm.

Learning Link Seeks Articles
The UW–Madison Teaching Academy invites all UW academic staff and faculty members to submit articles about student assessment to The Learning Link, the Teaching Academy’s newsletter for the discussion of issues related to teaching and learning. Although The Learning Link welcomes submissions in all areas of teaching and learning, we plan to devote our February issue to student assessment. Therefore, at this time we particularly encourage submissions related to that topic area. If you have other material related to teaching and learning, however, feel free to submit those articles as well.

The Learning Link is written by and for UW faculty. Through The Learning Link the UW Teaching Academy aims to advance understanding of teaching and learning, and encourage innovation, experimentation, and excellence in UW–Madison courses and programs, thereby creating better opportunities for students to learn. The Learning Link publishes articles featuring the scholarship of teaching and learning, as well as reviews, notes and essays, creative works, letters and announcements.

Submissions, preferably less than 500 words, are accepted electronically at mpaul@bascom.wisc.edu. Please send them in text or MSWord format.
