Alpha Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa welcomes 157 new members

UW-Madison’s Alpha Chapter of the Phi Beta Kappa Society has welcomed 157 student initiates for 2009.

Inductees were honored at an April 18 ceremony held at the Wisconsin Historical Society, followed by a reception and banquet held at the Lowell Center.

Phi Beta Kappa is the nation’s oldest and most prestigious honor society that is open to students in all disciplines. Students are eligible for membership based on their outstanding academic record.

Senior undergraduates must have a minimum GPA of 3.75 and juniors must have a minimum GPA of 3.9 to be members. In addition to an excellent GPA, these students must have breadth and depth across the liberal arts.
