Two faculty concerts help launch spring semester

Cellist Parry Karp, baritone Paul Rowe, soprano Cheryl Bensman Rowe, flutist Stephanie Jutt and pianist Martha Fischer will perform Ravel’s “Chansons madécasses” at 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 21, in Mills Concert Hall in the Mosse Humanities Building. In addition, their program will include works by Brahms, Previn and Pasatieri.

On Sunday, Jan. 23, Les Thimmig, soprano saxophone, performs his own compositions, “Yolanda Variations” and “Four Pieces.” He also will present selections by Dana Wilson, Enrique Granados and Ernesto Lecuona at 4 p.m. in Morphy Hall, Mosse Humanities Building.

Tickets for either concert, available at the door, are $9 general, $7 seniors/students. UW–Madison students are admitted free with ID. For more information, call the School of Music Concert Line, 263-9485.
