New symposium will showcase postdocs’ research Sept. 20
All students, postdocs, faculty and staff are welcome at the inaugural UW–Madison Postdoctoral Research Symposium on Tuesday, Sept. 20, from 1 to 4:15 pm.
UW-Madison has more than 750 postdoctoral researchers working across campus. The symposium will showcase research from four outstanding postdocs and feature keynote speaker B. Lynn Allen-Hoffmann, a UW professor of pathology and laboratory medicine, and founder of Stratatech Corp.
Postdoc speakers include:
Katie Brenner, biochemistry, co-founder of the fertility testing company bluDiagnostics.
José Francisco Gutiérrez, Wisconsin Center for Education Research. Gutiérrez studies classroom power dynamics and mathematical learning.
Emma Mohr, an infectious disease fellow in pediatrics, who models Zika virus infection.
Richard Barker, who works on microgravity and plants in the botany department.
Admission to the symposium is free but advance registration is requested. The symposium is organized by the UW-Madison Postdoctoral Association and sponsored by the Office of Postdoctoral Studies, Women in Science and Engineering Leadership Institute, and the Advocacy Consortium for Entrepreneurs.
The event will be held in the Biotech Center auditorium, Room 1111 Genetics-Biotech. A reception will follow in the atrium.
