Vis-a-Vis will be concert of dance, community

March 23, 2011

This spring, the Dance Department’s “Vis-a-Vis” will premiere three nights of dance works informed and inspired by visual art, artists, postmodern dance choreography and martial arts.

The concert runs April 14-16 at 8 p.m. each night in the Margaret H’Doubler Performance space in Lathrop Hall.

Among the seven dance works slated for the stage, Chicago guest artist-in-residence Carrie Hanson of the Seldoms will premiere a new piece titled “Likeness” inspired by the work of artist Jim Nutt. New choreography will be presented by faculty artists, including Li Chiao-Ping, Kate Corby, Chris Walker, Colette Stewart, Maureen Janson Heintz and Jin-Wen Yu.

Tickets are $15 for the general public and $10 for students and seniors. Tickets may be purchased in advance at http://www.uniontheater.wisc.edu, 265-ARTS or at the Wisconsin Union Theater box office. Seating is reserved.
