Survey to assess student involvement

March 7, 2011

In a few days, UW–Madison freshmen and seniors will receive an e-mail from Provost Paul DeLuca inviting them to participate in the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE).

NSSE is designed to assess student involvement in practices associated with high levels of learning. Results of the survey will tell us what students think of their undergraduate experience, the kinds of activities in which they engage and how they are benefiting from their studies. The survey has a broad scope, with hundreds of colleges and universities of all types and sizes participating each year.

This information will help identify areas where UW–Madison is doing well and where we can improve. In past years, results from student surveys have led to increased resources for academic advising and other needed improvements. For this study to accurately reflect the experiences of students at UW–Madison, we urge all freshmen and seniors to complete this survey.
