Guest Artist Series features accomplished alumni
The Guest Artist Series presents soprano Karen Caballero and pianist David Collins at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 8, in Mills Hall. Both artists are alumni of the School of Music: Caballero received the Bachelor of Music degree in 2001 before earning a master’s degree and graduate diploma at the New England Conservatory of Music. Collins graduated from Western Michigan University and received the Master of Music degree at UW-Madison in 1997. Caballero performs frequently in opera and concert settings in the greater Boston area and Collins was appointed to the faculty at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro last year.
For their Feb. 8 program, Caballero and Collins will perform eight songs from the “Italian Songbook” by Hugo Wolf; “Seven Haiku” by Maurice Delage; selections from “Gypsy Songs” by Antonin Dvorak; and “The Nantucket Songs” by Ned Rorem. Admission is free.
In addition to their concert, Caballero and Collins will lead a joint master class for singers and pianists at 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 9, in Morphy Hall.
Tickets for the Faculty Concert Series are available through the Wisconsin Union Theater Box Office at 265-ARTS. Tickets are $11 general, $8 for seniors/non-UW-Madison students.
