Application fee increasing to $44

April 11, 2008

Effective September 1, 2008, the undergraduate application fee for the University of Wisconsin–Madison and all UW System institutions will be $44. This is the first application fee increase since 1997, and represents an increase consistent with the rise in the Consumer Price Index, the standard inflationary indicator. The previous application fee was $35.

The application for admission for the fall of 2009 will be available on September 1, 2008. Domestic and international students applying for the fall of 2009 and subsequent terms will be charged the $44 application fee.

Students applying for terms prior to the fall of 2009 who complete their applications before September 1 will be charged the $35 application fee.

In cases of exceptional need, the application fee may be waived upon submission of the Request for Application Fee Waiver form.

Transfer students whose last institution attended is a two-year UW Colleges (freshman/sophomore) campus and reentry students are not required to pay an application fee.
