The run will feature a wave start again this year, reducing congestion on the route. The first place men’s and women’s finisher will each receive a Trek Madone 5.2 Road Bike valued at more than $3,200, courtesy of Trek Bikes.

The wheelchair event begins at 9:45 a.m., and the run starts at 10 a.m., both on the Capitol Square. The walkers begin their trek at 10:10 a.m. at Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and the Square.

Those who register by 4 p.m. on Friday, April 20, will be eligible to win prizes including 2007 season tickets for Badger football. There will also be three random drawings for round-trip airline tickets. The registration fee is $25 for runners and $20 for walkers. After April 20, the fee will be $35 for runners and $25 for walkers.

Fun and Fitness registrations, for teams of 10 or more members, are due by 4 p.m. Monday, April 16. That fee is $30 for all registrants.

The postrace party in Camp Randall Stadium, which is open to the public, will feature live entertainment by Madison’s “Mighty Short Bus.” Bucky Badger, the Spirit Squad and Mike Leckrone and the UW Marching Band will also be there.
