La Follette School of Public Affairs professor Carolyn Heinrich and co-authors Pascal Courty and Gerald Marschke won an award for best article from the editorial group of the International Public Management Journal published by the International Public Management Network.

The Board of Regents recently awarded named professorships to three members of the faculty. Shannon Kenney, professor of medicine and microbiology and immunology, has been named Wattawa Bascom Professor in Cancer Research; Stephen Malpezzi, professor of real estate and urban land economics, has been named the Lorin and Marjorie Tiefenthaler Distinguished Chair in Real Estate; and Francois Ortalo-Magne, professor of real estate and urban land economics, has been named Robert E. Wangard Chair in Real Estate.

Christopher Olsen is associate dean for academic affairs in the School of Veterinary Medicine.

La Follette School of Public Affairs professor Joe Soss and two co-authors won an award for the best policy studies paper presented at the annual meeting of the American Political Science Association.

UW-Platteville will honor current UW head coach Bo Ryan by naming the Williams Fieldhouse basketball court “Bo Ryan Court.” Ryan coached the Pioneers to four national titles and was named national coach of the year four times.

La Follette School of Public Affairs professor David Weimer has received a $120,000 grant from the MacArthur Foundation to assess cost-benefit analyses of human capital interventions.

The UW Foundation, the fundraising organization for UW–Madison, has won a 2006 CASE-WealthEngine Award for Educational Fund-Raising.

The Wisconsin Alumni Association is the recipient of the 2006 Friend of Extension Award. The award honors those individuals and organizations that have given substantial support to the UW-Extension outreach mission at the local, state and/or national levels.
