New Center for Pre-Law Advising to host open house

September 20, 2012

The newly opened Center for Pre-Law Advising will host an open house to celebrate its debut and engage with students interested in studying law.

“There was high demand for additional pre-law advising services,” says Jamie Heisler Ibrahim, director of the Center for Pre-Law Advising. “We hope to provide excellent academic advising and serve as a place that can connect students to resources within and outside of UW–Madison.”

The open house will take place Thursday, Sept. 20, from 2-4 p.m. in room 120 of the Middleton Building, 1305 Linden Drive. Law school admission representatives from UW–Madison, Ohio State and William Mitchell College of Law will be available at the event to offer students insight on the admissions process and give tips to improve their chances of acceptance.

The Center for Pre-Law Advising welcomes all students interested in a future in law to the open house, regardless of undergraduate major. Faculty and staff are encouraged to attend as well. The event is free, and refreshments will be provided.

Prior to the Center for Pre-Law Advising’s opening six weeks ago, the only available pre-law advisor was located in the College of Letters & Science.

“The center has plans to increase staff over time, depending on the reaction from students and what we feel is necessary to meet everyone’s needs,” says Ibrahim. “Thus far we’ve had very a positive response from students, and we’re looking forward to expanding.”
