Update: Feedback, questions sought on HR Design

University of Wisconsin–Madison faculty and staff are being encouraged to offer their observations or ask questions about the historic HR Design project underway on campus.

Web chats, forums and a survey will be used to help engage the campus on this important topic.

Project leaders are seeking to engage the campus community a number of ways this month, including a survey asking UW employees for their thoughts on the current HR system.

The HR Design project is a campus-wide effort to build a new, more effective UW-Madison personnel system to better serve the needs of the university, its employees and the citizens of Wisconsin. Work teams have been meeting to lay the groundwork for this historic overhaul of the university’s HR system. With that background in place, the work teams are seeking input from all corners of the campus.

“Input from across the campus community is a vital component of the HR Design project,” says Bob Lavigna, UW–Madison’s director of human resources and project lead. “That is why we are so pleased to offer multiple opportunities for employees to ask questions and give feedback.”

Survey feedback sought

Answers to the online survey will inform the work teams as they develop recommendations. The survey questions ask respondents to give their impressions of UW–Madison as a place of work, and what they would like to maintain or change about the current HR system. Responses to the survey are due before 12 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 16. Find the online survey here.

Web chats help answer campus questions

Continuing the engagement effort, UW–Madison employees will have the opportunity to ask questions of project leaders during a Web chat scheduled for noon to 1 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 13. All employees are encouraged to participate by logging on to the chat on this page at noon. Subsequent Web chats are planned for the future.

Forums set to inform, answer questions

In addition, faculty and staff are invited to two open forums to be held late this month on the project. The first is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 28 at Grainger Hall’s Plenary Room.

The following day, Wednesday, Feb. 29, a forum is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. at the Ebling Symposium Center in the Microbial Sciences Building. A third forum to accommodate the schedule of third shift workers is also being planned.
