School of Veterinary Medicine personnel receive awards
Teaching and research skills were the main criteria for multiple awards bestowed on School of Veterinary Medicine faculty and staff during the school’s annual Awards Celebration on April 30.
Dale Bjorling, professor and chair of the school’s Department of Surgical Sciences, received the Pfizer Award for Research Excellence.
Peter MacWilliams, professor in the Department of Pathobiological Sciences, received the Pfizer Norden Distinguished Teacher Award.
Christopher Olsen, a professor and pathologist in the school’s Department of Pathobiological Sciences, received the Walter F. Renk Distinguished Professor Award.
Patricia Sharp, senior research specialist in the Department of Pathobiological Sciences, was chosen as Student Chapter of the American Veterinary Medical Association Instructor of the Year.
Laura Lien, a certified veterinary technician in the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital’s large animal service, received the Charlie Seaver Veterinary Technician Award.
Donald Beebe and Heidi Kellum, residents in dentistry and cardiology at the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital, tied for this year’s Small Animal Resident of the Year Award.
Joe Morgan, resident in large animal internal medicine at Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital, received the SVM Large Animal Resident of the Year Award.
