It’s not too early to vote in the Aug. 14 primary election.

Offices on the ballot are governor, U.S. senator, U.S. representative, odd-numbered Wisconsin State Senate seats, and all Wisconsin Assembly seats.

Starting this week, in-person absentee voting can be done at locations throughout the city. You will need to present ID to receive an absentee ballot.  If you are not already registered to vote at your current address, you may register to vote, with proof of residence, at any absentee voting location.

If you live outside Madison, you can also register to vote at your municipal clerk’s office until 5 p.m. on Aug. 10, or at your polling place on election day, Aug. 14.

The week before the election, absentee voting can be done at three campus locations.

  • Union South, second floor, 2 to 6 p.m., from Monday, Aug. 6 to Thursday Aug. 9.
  • At Memorial Union, Gekas Commons, 2 to 6 p.m., from Monday, Aug. 6, to Thursday, Aug. 9.
  • UW-Madison Student Activity Center, sunroom, 10:15 a.m. to 2 p.m., from Monday, Aug. 6 to Thursday, Aug. 9.

You can request an absentee ballot online now if you’re registered to vote, although it’s too late to register to vote by mail or online for the Aug. 14 election.

To request an absentee ballot online, take a picture of your voter ID (Wisconsin driver’s license, passport, or student voter ID). Then send the pictures to voting@cityofmadison.com. Use the subject line “August Absentee” and include your name, your current Madison address, and “send me a ballot.” Give the mailing address or email where you are now.
