Writers learn how to succeed, meet editors, agents

March 23, 2011

Writers from across the country will convene on campus Friday-Sunday, April 8-10, at the annual Continuing Studies Writers’ Institute.

Novice or experienced writers can get tips from published authors, successful agents, and experienced editors during this successful conference that has helped writers for the last 21 years.

The conference features practice pitch sessions, as well as one-on-one pitch sessions with agents and editors.

This year the conference director is a new staff member at Continuing Studies: Laurie Scheer, who worked as a producer on many well-known television programs ranging from “Dynasty” and “Matlock” to “Rugrats” and “Pete and Pete.” She also has written nonfiction books and developed a DVD. Scheer returned to Wisconsin after serving as vice president of WE: Women’s Entertainment, and working for ABC, Viacom and Showtime.
