Wisconsin Union Theater director search resumes

September 9, 2003 By Esty Dinur

Following the receipt of initial recommendations from a Wisconsin Union Theater self-study group, the search for a new theater director has resumed. The deadline for applications is Tuesday, Sept. 30.

The study, done by a group composed of theater professionals, Wisconsin Union trustees, and faculty and students, was conducted in late May.

The group’s initial recommendations reaffirm the Union’s commitment to the theater’s collaborations with university departments and schools, particularly dance, theater and drama, and music, and its important role as a “learning laboratory” providing hands-on experiences for students.

The Union has created a position, program director for the cultural arts, focusing on student-led programs. Ralph Russo, who served as the theater’s interim director, has been named to this position. His responsibilities include developing a diverse program of music, theater and dance, as well as student involvement in the Union’s programming.
