Wisconsin Union Directorate offers chance to explore Costa Rica

“Exploring Costa Rica: Colors, Creatures and Curiosities with Sandy Mortimer” will be shown at 7:30 p.m. on Monday–Tuesday, Feb. 23–24, at the Wisconsin Union Theater.

The evening, hosted by Sandy Mortimer, features an exciting journey through Costa Rica. The film lets us discover the hidden secrets of the rainforest, the beauty of the sandy tropical beaches, and the wonders of the volcano environment in this journey through Costa Rica. Mortimer takes us on a spectacular trip between the Pacific and Caribbean coasts, to the Brahma cattle ranches, the Rincon de la Vieja volcano and beautiful Santa Rosa National Park.

Mortimer is an extraordinary cinematographer whose film credits include “Irish Stories & Glories,” “Israel: Stories from the Holy Land,” and “Egypt: Of Pharaohs & Fables.” She has worked as a news reporter and on-air personality for a CBS television station, a flight attendant for American Airlines, and as a public speaker and travel consultant.

The film is sponsored by the Wisconsin Union Directorate. Support is also given by the Wisconsin Arts Board with funds from the state of Wisconsin and the Wisconsin Union Theater Endowment Fund.

Tickets are $11 for the general public, $10 for WAA members, Union members, UW faculty and staff, and non-UW students. UW-Students tickets are $6. A sumptuous Costa Rican meal precedes the showing. Cost is $15.
