Wisconsin Dance Marathon kicks off this weekend

February 25, 2009

The Wisconsin Dance Marathon is a two-day dance marathon organized by UW–Madison students to benefit the American Family Children’s Hospital.

The dance is open to the public as well as UW–Madison students, the Wisconsin Dance Marathon will begin at 9 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 27, and runs all the way through 9 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28, at the Shell, 1430 Monroe St., next to Camp Randall Stadium.

For a $20 donation at the door, attendees gain entry to the Wisconsin Dance Marathon for two hours and can dance with friends, watch the entertainment and get a taste of the tradition that is becoming Wisconsin Dance Marathon.

Every dollar raised and minute danced is “for the kids” at American Family Children’s Hospital, making their day — and their lives — a little bit brighter.

The event will help raise money and awareness for American Family Children’s Hospital patients and families. Throughout the night there will be live entertainment, food, incentive rooms and plenty of dancing.

Organizers are looking for all of the support and attention they can get for the first-year event. The goal is to raise $100,000.
