WiscCal allows for import of campus events

September 24, 2008

Kicking yourself for missing the School of Music Faculty Concert Series?

Want to be made aware of any lectures dealing with the environment?

Want to see your class schedule, right along with your other appointments?

These and other UW–Madison events are now available for import into your WiscCal calendar.

The WiscCal Service Team, in conjunction with University Communications, has recently launched a new system for importing campus events and student class schedules into users’ WiscCal accounts.

Select from hundreds of events in the following categories:

  • Department Events (e.g., University Theater, Division of Continuing Studies)
  • Events Tagged by Key Words (e.g., biofuel, arts, volunteer opportunities)
  • UW Event Series (Badger Football, Arboretum Events, Libraries Workshops)
  • Class Schedule (for students only)

The new system allows for larger data sets and offers quicker importing because the calendar data is now provided via an .xml file format. It also provides a fix for the class schedule import function, which had been unavailable for some time. In addition, WiscCal Plus groups can now allow other WiscCal users the ability to import calendar data into their personal WiscCal calendars.

Instructions for importing events can be found online. Events can be removed at any time.
