UW seeks applications for second phase of MOOCs by March 18
Proposals for the second phase of pilot Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) are being sought as part of the University of Wisconsin–Madison’s continued efforts involving Educational Innovation.
MOOCs are unique and exciting virtual teaching, learning and research experiences that are not for credit and freely available to anyone with an Internet connection.
Since launching four pilot MOOCs during the 2013-14 school year, more than 96,000 learners from around the world, including all 50 states and more than 155 countries, have participated in the courses. Two of the pilot MOOCs have been completed with one in progress and another set to launch Monday, March 24. For more information, click here.
The next round of pilot MOOCs is expected to launch in the fall.
Faculty and instructional academic staff members interested in teaching a MOOC as part of the second phase pilot are invited to apply by no later than 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 18.
In the second phase, proposals will be assessed based on their ability to engage with or benefit Wisconsin citizens and global learners, as well as how the MOOC aligns with faculty members’ teaching portfolios and departmental curricular goals.
Educational content developed for MOOCs during the second round must also be directly applicable to existing or anticipated courses serving enrolled UW–Madison students and should support the residential education and experience of UW–Madison students.
