UW-Madison seniors celebrate new beginnings at Senior Week
As University of Wisconsin–Madison seniors approach their final month on campus, they’ll prepare to say goodbye to friends and professors, make their final climb of Bascom Hill and enjoy their last spring season as UW–Madison students.
On April 1-9, the Wisconsin Alumni Association (WAA) and the UW Foundation will help UW–Madison seniors celebrate their time on campus by sponsoring Senior Week, a free, weeklong series of events for soon-to-be alumni.
The week kicks off Wednesday, April 1, with a Career and Internship Connection event, sponsored by College of Letters and Science Career Services and the Business Career Center, and closes with the Senior Party on Thursday, April 9, where students will get to kick back and relax with an afternoon of free food, prizes and entertainment. More than a dozen other events are scheduled throughout the week, including a financial-planning session and a presentation by a nationally recognized alumni speaker.
Graduating seniors will also prepare to “move on” by attending Countdown to Commencement. This one-stop-shop opportunity, held Tuesday and Wednesday, April 7 and 8, allows students to get answers about the May 9 ceremony, check graduation ability, reserve caps and gowns and more. Students may also take advantage of a special $50 offer from WAA and the UW Foundation, combining membership into WAA and a senior class gift. If seniors take advantage of this offer on these two days only, they will receive their first UW alumni T-shirt and the opportunity to leave their message of “thanks” on a special senior class video.
“We’re proud to honor our seniors and welcome the next class into the Badger alumni family,” says Paula Bonner, WAA president and CEO. “This weeklong celebration offers our seniors some useful tools as they head out into the real world.”
