February 14, 2007

The University of Wisconsin–Madison will host more than 200 students and advisers from colleges across the Great Lakes region for the Association of Student Advancement Programs (ASAP) District 5 conference Feb. 16-18, 2007.

Sponsored by the Wisconsin Alumni Association and its student organizations, the Wisconsin Alumni Student Board (WASB) and the UW Homecoming Committee, the ASAP District 5 conference will draw student leaders from Midwestern universities to campus for a weekend of “Revolutionary Thinking.”

Representatives from student organizations will meet to exchange ideas, attend social events and hear from conference keynote speaker Cecil Martin, a former Badger football player, UW–Madison graduate and current vice president with Guggenheim Partners Wealth Management in New York.

The ASAP District 5 Awards will also be presented during the conference on Saturday, Feb. 17, at the Orpheum Theatre. In 2006, WASB and the UW Homecoming Committee took home four honors for outstanding student programs and leadership.

ASAP, a program of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), is a nationwide association of student organizations at more than 300 higher education institutions in North America. ASAP District 5 membership includes 70 colleges from the states of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, Indiana and Ohio.

Most ASAP District 5 conference sessions will be held at the Pyle Center, 702 Langdon Street, Madison.
