UW-Madison announces student Fulbright Scholarship winners

The University of Wisconsin–Madison regularly ranks among the best schools in the nation in students winning the highly competitive Fulbright Scholarships, and 2006-07 is no exception. Six students have received the prestigious awards this year, according to the federal Institute of International Education.

The Fulbright program is the largest U.S. international exchange program that offers opportunities for students, scholars and professionals to undertake graduate study, advanced research and teaching across the globe.

This year’s student winners from UW–Madison, along with their destinations and fields of study, are:

  • Nichole Bridges, who is headed to Republic of the Congo to study art and architectural history;
  • Eric Platt, who is off to the Netherlands to study cultural and intellectual history;
  • Aaron Cohn, who will study biology in Israel;
  • John Pederson, who is headed to Indonesia to teach English as a foreign language;
  • Jennifer Van Vleet, who will go to Denmark to study energy; and
  • Susan Gold, who will study medicine in Kenya.
