UW librarian publishes trivia book

November 29, 1999

Ray Hamel, a librarian in the Wisconsin Regional Primate Research Center Library, is the author of the newly released New York Times Trivia Quiz Book.

Hamel writes a biweekly trivia quiz for the New York Times. The book is a compilation of 1,001 questions from his first 125 quizzes. Hamel said the book covers general knowledge, including television, music, geography, sports, history and science.

“Anything you can think of is probably in there,” Hamel says.

The 256-page book is Hamel’s first, but heís already making plans for a second edition. “I’m hoping the first one does well,” Hamel says. “There seems to be a renewed interest in trivia today.”

The New York Times Trivia Quiz Book is available for $12.50 in paperback from Times Books.
