UW Hospital rated among best in cardiology

November 18, 1999 By

The cardiology department of the UW Hospital and Clinics has received a Consumer’s Choice Heart Care Service Award from the Lincoln, Nebraska-based National Research Corporation, which placed the UW among the nation’s top consumer-preferred hospitals.

In selecting award recipients, the NRC studied consumer survey responses from 170,000 U.S. households as part of its 1999 NRC Healthcare Market Guide, an annual study designed to compile consumer assessments of health plans, personal physicians, local hospitals and health systems. Only the top 124 of the 2,500 hospitals rated by consumers received awards. The UW Hospital and Clinics is one of only two hospitals in Wisconsin to receive the honor.

For the past 18 years, the National Research Corporation has provided up-to-date market information about health-care organizations. This is the first year that NRC has recognized hospitals for specialty services.
