UW employee killed in Thursday incident
A University of Wisconsin–Madison employee was killed in a Thursday incident on Lake Street near Mendota Court.
Around 10:30 a.m., the female employee was apparently walking behind a Wisconsin Union delivery truck when she was struck by the vehicle.
The victim was taken to a hospital but police have confirmed the woman has died. The incident is under investigation by the Madison Police Department.
More details are not immediately available. The employee has not yet been publicly identified by the Dane County Medical Examiner.
“We’re saddened by this tragic loss of a member of our community,” said Provost Paul M. DeLuca Jr.
“As we wait to learn more about what happened, we want our campus community to know that there are resources to support them in a difficult time,” he adds.
