UW dance professor offers ‘first look’ concert

From a new solo work to the continuation of a landmark dance project to a community-based ensemble piece and more, Li Chiao-Ping’s spring concert, “Arrivals and Departures,” will offer audiences a first look at her spring repertoire Wednesday-Saturday, May 3-6.

On the program will be “Arrival,” a new community-based exploration of the experiences of Jewish immigrants in Madison; “Take-Off,” a group work that incorporates high- and low-flying maneuvers; “Camber,” a solo that choreographer Molissa Fenley created for Li and part of Li’s “Women Dancing” project; and more.

“Arrival” will be performed on Thursday, May 4, and Saturday, May 6. On Wednesday, May 3, and Friday, May 5, audiences will see a new dance film by associate professor of dance Douglas Rosenberg, who collaborated with Li on “Arrival.”

Tickets, $16 general/$12 seniors/$5 children under five, are available at the door. Student prices are $5 for the performance on Wednesday and Thursday, May 3 and 4, and $8 on Friday and Saturday, May 5 and 6.
