University roundtable sets spring schedule

January 18, 2005 By Dennis Chaptman

When the University Roundtable kicks off its spring program on Wednesday, Feb. 9, Charles Read, dean of the School of Education, who will retire at the end of this academic year, will share some of the wisdom and insights he has gained.

The program, which begins at 11:45 a.m. in Tripp Commons of the Memorial Union, is titled “The Good, the Bad and the Unexpected: Reflections on Leading a School of Education.”

Read announced in September that he will retire after a 35-year UW–Madison career that has included a 10-year stint as dean of the education school.

The other spring-semester lunch-and-speaker programs, all of which will be held at 11:45 a.m. in Tripp Commons, feature:

  • Mary J. Nachreiner, community/donor family services specialist, and Susan Grossenbach, organ procurement coordinator with the UW Hospital Organ Procurement Program, who will speak Wednesday, March 9, on “Saving Lives: Perspectives in Organ Donation.”
  • UW System President Kevin P. Reilly, who will speak Wednesday, April 13, on “Keeping the Public in a Public University.”

The programs are open to members of the university community and their guests.

Each luncheon costs $9, but the three-luncheon series price is $25, if purchased by Tuesday, Feb. 1. Individual registrations are due one week before each program. Those attending may pay for the luncheons at the door, if a reservation is made by e-mail or telephone before the deadline.

Reservations may be made through Colleen McCabe, (608) 263-2985 or by email at cmccabe@bascom.wisc.edu.
