July 15, 2003 By Gwen Evans

UW–Madison is honoring eight partnerships between the university and local communities for their innovative approaches to community service over the last year.

The partnerships will be recognized Wednesday, July 16, at the seventh annual University and Community Partnerships Reception at Olin House.

Chancellor John Wiley will recognize the individuals behind the civic improvement projects in which university employees and students partner with local community leaders.

The projects being recognized focus on innovative and sustainable projects in business, education and law, which are just a few of hundreds of similar partnerships that exist on the UW–Madison campus. Close to 100 guests are expected for the event.

The university-community partnerships being recognized include: Campus Community Partnerships in South Madison, Center for Patient Partnerships, Coming Together: “The Two Towns of Jasper,” Dane County Deferred Prosecution Victim Offender Conferencing Project, International Trade Partnership, Launching Entrepreneurial Advisory Panels (LEAP), Madison Metropolitan School District/UW-Madison Action Research Partnership and the Troy Gardens Project.
