UHS offers a drop-in, stress support group for finals

December 17, 2001 By Jonathan Zarov

Final examinations are always a stressful time for students. But this year, due to world events and the economic downturn, stress may seem overwhelming.

To help students cope better, University Health Services Counseling and Consultation Services offers “Keeping It Together.”

“Keeping It Together” is a drop-in support group for students, offered three days a week until the end of the semester. It will help students identify goals, keep on track and manage stress during the last few weeks of school. Students will be coached on stress management tactics, time management and quick relaxation skills.

“Students have been telling us how stressed out and overwhelmed they are feeling. Sometimes just being able to get some coaching about how to prioritize, manage time more efficiently, and knowing that you aren’t alone can go a long way to alleviate the stress,” says Wendy Schmidt-Janosik, CCS senior counselor.

“Keeping It Together” is offered Mondays, 4-5 p.m.; Wednesdays, noon-1 p.m., and Fridays, 3-4 p.m., all at Counseling and Consultation Services, 905 University Ave. Please check at the fourth-floor desk for room location.
