Chancellor defends public authority status for UW–Madison
Appearing before the UW System Board of Regents on Thursday, Chancellor Biddy Martin said restructuring UW–Madison as a public authority would give the university a chance to gain the flexibilities it needs to deal with looming budget cuts. After a vigorous discussion, regents voted to ask the governor to grant all system schools flexibilities, in a plan they call the Wisconsin Idea Partnership.
