Tudor dinner celebrates season

November 18, 2003

The Wisconsin Union’s 70th annual Tudor Holiday Dinner Concerts offer an evening of fine dining, old English pageantry and rich choral presentations.

The program starts with a Wassail Bowl — a captivating mulled wine — and the presentation of the Boar’s Head, a Tudor tradition. Accompanying the feast are strolling minstrels, followed by the Philharmonic Chorus of Madison.

The menu includes a salad of chopped romaine with pecans, a sprinkle of blue cheese and a cranberry balsamic vinaigrette; a petite filet of beef tenderloin with a mushroom Madeira sauce and a petite filet of salmon with citrus cream sauce; and oven roasted red potatoes and asparagus. A vegetarian option is also available. Dinner is followed by the spectacular flaming figgy pudding ceremonial and a spectacular choral presentation by the chorus.

Tickets are available for Wednesday-Friday, Dec. 3-5; Sunday, Dec. 7; and Tuesday-Wednesday, Dec. 9-10. Dec. 6 is sold out, and no dinner is scheduled Dec. 8. Tickets are $37.50 for Union members and $42.50 for non-members. Download an order form at http://www.union.wisc.edu/ tudordinners, or call 262-2201 to order.
