Terrorism expert explores Iraq, Arab-Israeli conflict

April 22, 2003

Middle East expert and media analyst Daniel Pipes will present a lecture on “Three Wars: Iraq, Terrorism and the Arab-Israeli Conflict” at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 29, in Lakefront Cafe, Memorial Union.

A terrorist analyst and historian, Pipes, who received a doctorate from Harvard University and has lectured in 25 countries, has studied terrorism in the Middle East for decades. Some of Pipes’ theories have stirred considerable controversy, including his contention that militant Islam — not terrorism — is the strategic enemy of the United States.

The Contemporary Issues Committee of the Wisconsin Union Directorate is sponsoring this free event, which is part of the committee’s Spotlight Series of guest speakers. For more information, contact John Blomberg, 263-2458, jablomberg@wisc.edu.
