Taste of the Terrace returns

For the second year, UW students get a free taste of the summer early.

On Sunday, April 18, from 6–8 p.m., UW students can sample free food, watch an Iron Chef cook-off and participate in contests. The event, held in Lakefront on Langdon in the Memorial Union, is sponsored by the Wisconsin Union Directorate and the Wisconsin Union Restaurant and Deli Division.

The event is free for UW students, but they’ll need to show a valid UW student ID to pick up tickets available from the Memorial Union Box Office, 800 Langdon St.  To be guaranteed food, students must arrive by 7 p.m. Some tickets will be available at the event, but only 350 tickets are available.

Better get there early to enjoy free brats, hot dogs, corn on the cob, pizza and ice cream. They will also sample and judge new menu items from students who submitted them for the Iron Recipe Challenge.

To participate in the Iron Recipe Challenge, UW students must submit recipes for pizza or sandwiches/wraps to: iron_recipes@union.wisc.edu by April 9. Two recipes from each category will be sampled at Taste of the Terrace event where other students vote a winner for each category. The winners receive a kettle gas grill and a place for their recipes on Lakefront on Langdon’s menu.

During the event, the Iron Chefs will compete with the assistance of celebrity helpers before they face the judges.Come cheer them on or compete in a pie eating or trivia contests.

Also from April 5–17, the Wisconsin Union Restaurants and Delis will have tasty specials to help celebrate.
