Summer job fair Feb. 19

February 18, 1998

Students seeking summer employment will be offered a leg up at the 1998 Summer Job Fair Feb. 19.

Students will be able to talk with more than 70 employers offering such positions as arts and crafts director, adventure trip leader, farmer, lifeguard, naturalist, photographer, mosquito control specialist and many more.

Virginia Zwickey, UW–Madison Student Job Center coordinator, says students eager to spend the summer out of town will have a wide selection of potential employers; so will students hoping to stay close to home.

“Some employers are from Madison as well as Mazomanie, Milwaukee and Chicago. Most are from Wisconsin, but we have some from Maine, West Virginia, New York, North Carolina, Minnesota, Michigan, Colorado and Pennsylvania,” she says.

1998 will mark the 13th UW–Madison Summer Job Fair. Zwickey estimates about 250 of the approximately 600 students attending the fair find jobs through it.

The fair will be held from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. in Memorial Union’s Great Hall and Tripp Commons. T-shirt drawings will be held, complimentary program guides will be provided and refreshments will be served.
