Stay safe out there: Advisory issued on snowballs, snow clearance

December 9, 2009

To help assure the safety of pedestrians, snow removal crews and Madison motorists, University of Wisconsin–Madison safety officials are urging people to refrain from throwing snow at passing vehicles and from piling snow in roadways.

“We want to make sure that everyone stays safe in the aftermath of this major snowstorm and that snow removal crews can continue to make progress in safely clearing our streets,” says UW–Madison Assistant Police Chief Dale Burke.

Officials are asking people to consider their own safety and that of others as Madison and the campus recover from this storm.

In addition to asking people to refrain from rolling large snowballs into streets and throwing snowballs at passing cars and snow plows, they are advising pedestrians to stay out of the street when snow removal equipment is nearby.
