Save the date for Sept. 28 diversity forum

August 22, 2007

Students, faculty and staff are reminded to save the date for the eighth annual Diversity and Climate Campus Forum to be held on Friday, Sept. 28, at Memorial Union.

Titled "Diversity: Engagement, Resistance, Change," the daylong event will feature a program of speakers, multicultural performances and discussion sessions, from 8 a.m.-3 p.m.

The keynote speaker will be Nobel Prize-nominated photojournalist, activist and author Jane Hamilton-Merritt, who has extensively chronicled the experience of the Hmong people. The event will also include a "best practices" poster presentations and a daylong art exhibition.

Faculty members are encouraged to allow classes to attend forum sessions as a substitute for a normal class meeting, wherever possible. Staff members can attend without loss of pay after receiving approval from their supervisor.

UW-Madison is engaged in an ongoing effort to create a welcoming, diverse and inclusive campus. Plan 2008 was created as the blueprint to increase the diversity of UW–Madison’s students, faculty, staff, curriculum and campus life.
