Frozen bubble

A gloved hand cradles a soapy bubble that froze into an orb of ice crystals and broke during subzero weather atop Bascom Hill. The brutally cold weather was the result of a “polar vortex,” a rare, winter-weather phenomenon that brought several days of frigid temperatures and wind chill from the North Pole down south into the Midwest.
