Glimpsing the Galapagos
Jars of infant giant tortoises are stored in a cabinet at the UW Zoological Museum. The specimens were collected in the 1970s by E. Elizabeth Pillaert, distinguished researcher and curator of osteology at the museum, after the baby turtles died at the Charles Darwin Research Station in the Galapagos Islands. The museum has the world’s largest collection of animal remains from the Galapagos Islands.
