Postponed applicant update

March 5, 2008

The Office of Admissions is currently reviewing the applications of postponed applicants in order to make final admission decisions on or by March 15.

Postponed applicants were neither admitted nor denied during the initial review period. They were essentially held for further consideration until space in the freshman class could be analyzed and/or the student’s mid-year grades and additional standardized test scores could be reviewed.

The University of Wisconsin has once again received a record-high number of freshman applications—more than 25,000. Admission as a postponed applicant will be very selective and based on the availability of space in the freshman class and the student’s academic performance during their senior year to date.

Review our Postponed Applicant Frequently Asked Questions (pdf, 80K) for complete details about the process.

Final decisions for postponed applicants will be made on or by March 15 and decisions letters will be mailed thereafter. Admission decisions will not be made available over the phone. Students can monitor their final decision online as noted below.

Check Your Application Status Online
All students can monitor the status of their application online. Before you can access the Application Status Web site, you must activate your UW NetID. To do so, you’ll need your 10-digit campus ID number (found in your application acknowledgment letter or e-mail) and birth date. Once you activate your NetID, you will assign yourself a password and then be authorized to access the My UW Web portal and your application status information.
