Partners in Giving raises $1.4 million

December 8, 2010

Although the 2010 Partners in Giving campaign has officially come to a close, there is still time to contribute. Employees who would like to give through payroll contribution will need to turn their pledge forms in to their chairs or coordinators by Wednesday, Dec. 15, to ensure the timely start of the deductions for the first payroll period in January.

As of Nov. 29, approximately 4,600 state, university and UW Hospital and Clinics employees had given $1.4 million to the charity fundraising campaign. Special events organized by agencies and departments have raised just over $47,600.

Altogether, 1,503 employees, approximately seven percent of 21,867 potential university contributors, had given $536,737. Of the 6,465 employees at UW Hospital and Clinics, 43, or less than 1 percent, had contributed $9,250 to the campaign by the end of November.

On the state side, 3,058 out of 13,949 employees contributed $822,015.

The final count isn’t over yet, however. Typically, contributions continue to come in throughout December and into January. Late contributions are always welcome.

“Given that these are very tough times, I’m confident that we will still finish this campaign where we were last year, and perhaps even a little better than that,” says Katharyn May, chair of the university’s campaign and dean of the School of Nursing. “While the overall campaign is down slightly from this time last year in terms of numbers of donors and total dollars, the interesting word here is ‘slightly.’”
