Partners in Giving appreciation events planned

February 14, 2006

University contributors and employee volunteers for the 2005 Partners in Giving campaign will be recognized at special festivities Sunday, Feb. 19, at the Kohl Center during the women’s basketball game against the University of Minnesota.

Outstanding campaign volunteers from the university, state government and UW Hospital and Clinics also will be honored together at a public ceremony at noon on Tuesday, March 7, in the state Capitol rotunda.

The charitable workplace campaign in 2005 yielded the second largest dollar total ever, raising $2,752,560 by Jan. 31.

University employees pledged $1,284,626. Employees of UW Hospital and Clinics pledged an additional $178,100 — an increase of 21 percent over 2004. State government employees donated $1,289,234. The campaign is limited to people who work in Dane County.

The 2005 campaign raised money for more than 430 local, regional, national and international charitable organizations. Since its inception in 1973 as the State Employees Combined Campaign, contributions have exceeded $44.6 million.
